A George III Mahogany Architect’s/Writing Table ca. 1750
RH197
This table dates from ca. 1750 and has a wonderful deep and rich patina. The top has carved re-entrant corners and the front of the table can pull out to form a writing surface which is covered in a green baize which can slide backwards to reveal further compartments and secret drawers underneath. The whole table stands on square legs, the front two separating when opened and has a total of six castors. The front handle is very impressive and has a very imposing brass escutcheon. The table has been beautifully waxed.
