Mid 17th Century Italian Alabaster Pair of Altar Putti, circa 1650

Absolutely charming and finely carved baroque figures of kneeling putti
We particularly like details such as the plumpy cheeks and arms, curly hairdo, elaborate robe and feet
They would have originally been placed either side of a tabernacle (shrine containing the Eucharist) The two vertical holes at the back were intended for giltwood wings
Delightful, rare and proper pair of figures
Original, untouched condition, beautiful patina
