Pair of Huge Japanese Imari Vases with Lids, circa 1700

A spectacular pair of late 17th century Japanese Imari vases of magnificent scale. The bodies and lids decorated in polychrome glazes with gilded highlights and showing phoenixes or birds of Paradise in various attitudes. The vases are almost 1 meter tall and most certainly destined for a Royal residence. The lids crowned with eagle finials.
